Based on real people and real events. Well, maybe not the wolf part.

EXT. Rolling Green fields – Dusk

A Peregrine Falcon soars over a coastline filled with anchored ships and thousands of soldiers milling about.

It swoops down towards a hill, landing on the arm of —

KING BORU (60s.) He closes his battle-worn eyes, soaking in the setting sun’s final embrace as a gentle wind tousles his hair over his shredded leather armor.

KING Boru
(Irish accent)
May the gods bless the coming night.

He scans the post battle carnage in a valley beneath him:
– WOMEN tend to the injured…
– PRIESTS comfort the dying…
– SOLDIERS clear the dead.

SUPER: Clontarf, Ireland. 1014 A.D.

KING Boru
No quarter asked, none given. We all agreed.

The Falcon takes to the sky as The King studies SIX SOLDIERS behind him —

each sporting tattered armor and freshly healed wounds that would’ve killed most men – should’ve killed most men.

They fidget with hope and uncertainty. The King places his hands on the shoulders of MURCHAD (40) and TAIRRDELBACH (20.)

KING Boru
My son… My Grandson…

He pulls them into his fatherly embrace.

King Boru
Without the day of respite, all’d be lost.

He gazes into his camp, at Seven CRIMSON ROBED WOMEN in a circle around a bonfire, with arms raised high.

Their soft chant drifts along the breeze.

KING Boru (o.S.)
Without them, we’d all be dead.
